With the increased interest in this site. Have showed me that people to check out aledo related websites. So I've been thinking about ways to improve the internet experience for this town/county.

I'm looking for ideas to improve this site or for ideas for new websites related to Aledo/Mercer County or surrounding areas.

Keep topics on the front page that have been active in the last 5 or 7 days.  Some of the topics are still active when they get bumped off the home page.  Others are not active at all and remain.  And I am not sure that everyone goes to the page that lists all of the topics.

It auto adds the most recent topics. Not by activity. You can always click the forums link below the list or in the Main Menu to see where new posts are in.

I liked it when the most recent post appeared at the top so I don't
have to scroll down and read the dates and times to know if I have already viewed them.  This is great to keep people informed that really care to know.

Here is one I just came up with, is it possible to make the people post something other than guest guest as thier name?  This would make it easier to keep the posts from different people seperated.  I am guessing that with this type of forum that is not possible, since the idea is to remain totally unknown.  But it is just a thought.

This is why there are member only forums. You must register with a user name and use that to post on the member forums. Visitors can post under whatever they what. Try posting more topics in the members forums to get more people on those then the visitors forum.

Now on the home page it shows the most recent forum posts instead of the newest topics.

Clean up the posts that are full of cuss words and slander such as the new on ASA Softball thread by "John Elder".  Those do nothing to promote discussion.

Agreed...foul language for the sake of just being abusive, offensive, or illicit adds nothing to this informational site.

Maybe the emotion icons could even be used in place of a foul words.  The reader would then know it was inappropriate for the flavor of the website of our fine town.  Yahoo's message boards became so useless at times with potty mouth and hateful words that had little to do with the subject.  I suppose you would be accused of censorship but that is the privilege of ownership. If people who came to aledoforum.com could see the subjects being posted or themes, even though they couldn't read the post unless they signed up and in, they might be more motivated to sign up as their curiosity of what is being said might pique their interest.  Just an idea. Smiley

Actually, that was discussed here: http://aledoforum.com/index.php/topic,537.msg6934.html#msg6934

It seems that more folks signed up after aledoforum changed the policy. It has leveled off here in the last month or so but, that may be more due to the nicer weather than anything.

Rather it condemns the oppression or persecution of others.
